Strategies for Main Street Success

On April 10, 2018 CREW Cleveland met at Melt Bar & Grill in Independence to enjoy oversized sandwiches and of course, a little real estate talk.  Kirby Date, of Cleveland State University, led the discussion with her research on how to develop and maintain a successful “Main Street” in local town centers.  Date expressed the want of millennials and baby boomers alike to have accessible retail shops, coffee houses and restaurants at their fingertips, generally within walking distance.  With the threat of online retail always looming, many have questioned the future of retail stores.  Kirby’s research, however, supported the continuing need for people of all ages to shop locally – to be able to see, touch and experience their purchases.  With a well-planned, thoughtful main street, commercial retail space is predicted to remain strong in the coming years.  Great news for CREW Cleveland and all those in attendance.
